If H&A are symptoms and not the cure, they are symptoms of a terminal, painfully slow cancer. After all, there is no cure if the Cultural industry is everything and everything created in all of a society just reinforces the Cultural Industry. After all, as H&A says, "no one can escape."
And don't forget, H &A never completely abandoned high art outside the Culture Industry. "To this extent the claims of art are always also ideology. Yet it is only in its struggle
with tradition, a struggle precipitated in style, that art can find expression for suffer-
ing."
Art can battle tradition. It can find expression for suffering. The revolution won't be televised, read, or listened to, but some of us will be there to care.
