Graphic novel as instruction format

I thought this was an interesting approach to teaching students how to use the Univ. of Aukland Library's Online Catalog, http://www.library.auckland.ac.nz/instruct/tutorials/voyager/index.html. It reminded me of Duke Law's well-known "Bound by Law?" comic book outlining fair use and copyright issues, too.

Related to giving students a graphic novel as an instructional tool, I'd also be interested in providing students with a loose "script" and asking them to create their own novel. Anyone have experience in that area - assigning the creation of graphic novels, video shorts, slide shows, etc. to help students learn certain concepts or skills?
