Wood Products students are combining community service for Habitat for Humanity with mastering the concepts of sustainable wood and wood products manufacturing in a new course at NC State.

Dr. Hasan Jameel, Ellis Signe Olssen Professor of Chemical Engineering in the Department of Wood & Paper Science at North Carolina State University, has been selected by the College of Natural Resources to receive the Board of Governor's College Award for Excellence in Teaching.  Along with a cash award and recognition at a campus-wide event in the Spring, Jameel will be a nominee for the University Board of Governor's Award.

While our men's and women's golf teams will certainly feel at home at Centennial Campus' Lonnie Poole Golf Course, other NC State faculty and students- including those who don't play golf - plan to hit the links as well, as the course grows into its role as an outdoor classroom and "living lab."  Turfgrass science undergrads will venture to LPGC for field labs, while graduate students tend to research projects. Professional golf management majors in one of only 20 PGA-accredited programs will receive hands-on, real-world business experience as well.

The Raleigh area will have a new course at N.C. State's Centennial Campus, one designed by Arnold Palmer, who is scheduled to return July 31 for its grand opening.

Note: NC State's PGA Professional Golf Management Program has been active in the development of the course, which will also serve as an on-campus learning laboratory for students in the PGA accredited program. Learn more about the PGM Program

NEWS RELEASE - April 2, 2009

Faculty in the College of Natural Resources will lead 6 study abroad courses during the Summer of 2009. Students will have the opportunity to travel in Ghana, Italy, Namibia, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey
