RALEIGH, NC — The First Year College at North Carolina State University has established an Advisory Board to help the college with program strategies that foster student success, community partnerships, scholarships, and public awareness.
The announcement was made by Ms. Carrie McLean, director of the College, following the new board’s initial meeting in September. “We are very pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment of this valuable resource of advisors” said McLean. “Board members are energized about their mission, and we believe that the Board, while new, will be instrumental in increasing awareness about our program on campus and in communities from which we draw our students.”
The ten board members represent a spectrum of University administrators, educators, and business leaders. Board Chair Suzanne Cowley is owner and CEO of Clinical Development Associates and a parent of a First Year College student.
Also attending the organizational breakfast meeting on September 25, 2008 in the First Year College Commons was Dr. John Ambrose, Interim Dean of NC State University’s Division of Undergraduate Academic Programs. Millie Herget, Coordinator of Outreach Programs for the College, organized the meeting and is serving as the Board’s liaison.
