On Saturday, April 4, The Brick won a merit award from the Charlotte chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, at the BOOM! Gala and Exhibition held at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC. Accepting the award were designers Alberto Rigau and Marty Maxwell Lane, graduate students in the College of Design who partnered with First Year College to make The Brick a success. The Brick, a guidebook to the history, traditions, and opportunities that make NC State unique, was written by First Year College students and distributed to new students at Fall 2008 convocation.
