Call to Action Speech
Speaker: Demario
Reviewer: James Boykin
Demario spoke about global warming. He went over some of his argument of the dangers of global warming briefly. He stated global warming is and will continue to cause rises in sea levels. If this is true then we must be very worried as most big cities are built at sea level.
Demario explained that green house gases are the cause of global warming, which will result in more frequency, more insense and longer heat waves. Demario called for political action that would help curve the trend. Also, at a personal level he called for everyone to plant trees. He explained that trees effectively absorb carbon and any carbon a tree contains the atmosphere doesn't. I felt he explained his position pretty well during the speech. He had a professional appearance. One improvement I would recommend would be to focus on not reading the outline too much, it wasn't a huge problem but at times it seemed like we were getting read to.
Call to Action Speech
Speaker: Morgan P.
Reviewer: James Boykin
Morgan continued her talks about overpopulation. She recapped some of her main points from the previous speech about the dangers of overpopulation. The damages include areas such as the economy, environment and health. Morgan did a good job of providing some statistics and details about her position.
Morgan called on the audience to consider having less children throughout their life (at a later stage in their life) and possibly support government action which would reward those who choose to have 2 or less children. As an immediate action she encouraged the audience to simply tell a friend about the problem. To improve in the future I would recommend focusing on controlling anxiousness. The speech felt like it was delivered a little too fast and Morgan was fidgty with her foot. Overall though the message was delivered.

Self Reflection: Call to Action Speech
I feel that I illustrated a clear need for action to prevent obesity. I think that the audience understood what they could do to help. I gave several examples of different actions that could be taken in order to help prevent the increased rate in obesity.
I am not really sure what phrases I used that caught the audiences attention, which is probably one of my weaknesses. I could of used language alittle better. I could have put more emphasis on certain words to make the audience more excited and willing to help with this volunteer program.
Although I gave the audience a worksheet to fillout so that they could keep track of their health, I feel like I have done more to motivate them. I think I had the right idea but it could have been carried out better.
