Persuasive Speeches

Reviewer: Michael George

Speaker: Dejon

Topic: Raising Minimum Wage

Dejon did his speech on why minimum wage should be increased in American

society. I personally agree with him because I don?t get paid anywhere

near 7.50 an hour. So right away he got my attention with his speech and I

wanted to listen. And something else that drew my attention was Dejon?s

never failing ?do you know a man?? introduction. And after that the math

problem that he used got me thinking why oh why is he using this in a

speech. But he explained it very well and it fit in well with the rest of

his speech.

And just like every other speech he gets people listening not only by

this speech but by his tone. I swear even if someone didn?t want to

listen or had no interest in his topic they would listen just for how

pumped and forthcoming he is with his tone of voice.

As for the speech it self it was very well done and it seemed as if he knew a lot of what he was talking about. He threw in many good financial

quotes and facts, which are always good to have in a speech because

numbers actually show and give the audience the actuality of what you are

talking about. He gave his thesis and points along with why the minimum

wage should be raised and ways to solve it.

Over all Dejon gave a good speech, it was well presented with all the

required material. So all I have to say is good job and hope the next

speech is just as good.

Speaker:  Lawanda

Topic: Sex in Schools

Lawanda?s speech was about sex in public schools. She talked about how

teaching more than just abstinence is better for the newer generation.

This was because the new generation of people are taught by TV and other

things that sex is accepted over just not doing it at all.

She presented her side of the topic very well and showed the audience why

schools should be teaching more than just abstinence. And how some schools

have taken it out of their programs in general.

She presented the topic very well showed us why schools should teach safe

sex. She spoke very well and a lot of good things to say. The only bad

thing was I think she was a little short on time, but other than that she

did a really good job.
