LOBO Updates - Fall 2007
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to offer a few LOBO updates to make sure we are all up to date on things for the Fall Semester.
- For those who haven't met me yet, I am Kawanna Bright, the new Instructional Services Librarian. I'm officially in charge of working with the ENG 101 classes, including any questions you may have about LOBO, so all instructors should feel free to contact me with any and all questions: kawanna_bright@ncsu.edu or 513-2603 or IM: kawannalibrarian (on AIM, MSN, yahoo, and GoogleTalk).
- All instructors currently teaching in the FYWP have all been added to LOBO so that your students can e-mail their workshees to you directly from LOBO. Please let me know if anyone finds that they are not on this list and we will get you added.
- LOBO Feedback needed. Recently I had Susan send out a request for feedback on how you have and are using LOBO with your classes. Any and all feedback is welcome. If anyone did not receive that e-mail, here are the questions:
- For those who have had the opportunity to use LOBO in previous semesters, how have you included LOBO in your course?
- Have you utilized the LOBO lesson plans made available with the tutorial?
- Have you found it easy or difficult to integrate LOBO into your curriculum?
If difficult, what do you think would make it easier to integrate LOBO into your curriculum? - Do you have any suggestions for changes to LOBO?
There's still time to send in your responses (in fact, any time this semester would be great!). Feel free to send them directly to kawanna_bright@ncsu.edu.
That's all for now - good luck with the rest of the semester!
Kawanna

During the month of August, the LOBO tutorial will be migrated to a content management system. This will help librarians respond more quickly to changes and suggestions from improvement. However, the look and feel of LOBO will remain the same...you may not notice a thing! After your students have completed LOBO, you may schedule a class workshop (held in the library ITTC Labs or your computer classroom) tailored to the specific needs of your students. These workshops are reserved for students whose research requires skills not already addressed by LOBO.
Students get the most from these workshops when they are scheduled after their assignment had been fully explained and their topics are selected. Instructors are encouraged to participate in the workshop by asking questions, providing details about the assignment, and working one-on-one with students as needed.
Space is limited. For priority scheduling, request your workshop by the first week of the semester. Requests made later than the fourth week of the semester are often very difficult to schedule.

So that a new summer session of ENG 101 can begin. If you want your answers from this semester, print them or email them to your instructor before May 15th. Posted by mjoaklea ( May 07 2006, 07:45:36 PM EDT ) Permalink Comments [0]LOBO Redesign Coming
During Summer 2006, LOBO code will be redesigned. If anyone has ideas for a new template, feel free to comment here. Note: LOBO content will not change substantially over the summer, but the new designs will support quicker adoption of ENG 101 instructor recommendations.
