This article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/23/AR2005062300783_pf.html relates to the issue of eminent domain. In particular how do you feel about the definition of "public use"?

In particular, they discuss the issue of banning smoking in private bars and restaurants or banning cigarettes in general. Is this okay in terms of civil liberties and a limited national government? http://civilliberty.about.com/cs/i.htm

Recently, a district court ruled against parts of the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act is relevant to right to privacy and limited government. Just food for thought.

Beginning with the topic of civil rights and civil liberties, I will try to post relevant topics or articles for you to comment on if you so choose. I would encourage you, however, to make your own unsolicited comments and provide articles or topics for discussion. Looking forward to the semester!
