Pirmaries David Bancroft found an interesting website that discusses New Hampshire changing its primary registration guidelines.  Take a look at it.  It shoulds some light on the power of parties, and the relevance of closed versus open primarie! Campaign Finance

We just finished the unit on "inputs".  These are things that serve as inputs into the process.  They serve to link we the people to the government.  Elections are an example of inputs into the process and campaign finnce is obviously a part of campaign finance.  Brad found an interesting website that shows how much money is being raised by each candidate for their campaign as well as where the money is coming from.    http://www.opensecrets.org/

Eminent Domain

This article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/23/AR2005062300783_pf.html relates to the issue of eminent domain.  In particular how do you feel about the definition of "public use"?

civil liberties

Hello again.   Just wanted to send another link that has a list of civil liberties issues.  In particular, they discuss the issue of banning smoking in private bars and restaurants or banning cigarettes in general.  Is this okay in terms of civil liberties and a limited national government?  http://civilliberty.about.com/cs/i.htm

Patiot Act

In class we are discussing civil rights and civil liberties.  Recently, a district court ruled against parts of the Patriot Act.  The Patriot Act is relevant to right to privacy and limited government.  Check out the following article:  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20624404/

Just food for thought.
