For some reason, the system won't let me post my reply to the entry, so here goes: I agree with this comment. Writers improve slowly, and it is not evident to us how much we have grown until we look back on our past work. Recently, I happened to come across my old writing portfolio from the 8th grade. My teacher gave me so much positive feedback about my writing and gave me a 100% on the entire assignment. However, when I was reading over my portfolio, I had to laugh. The language I used and my sentence structure could be much better. It is amazing how much we grow and change until we take the time out to reflect on past work. I agree with the statement made that "writers are born with the gift of writing". You can try and teach someone to write, but someone who is truly a gifted writer does not necessarily need as much direction. Posted at 05:38PM Nov 13, 2008 by Brittany Smith in General | |
