Sommers article

This quote definitely sounds like something one of the experienced writers would say. The student’s in Sommers’ article looked for areas where they had repeated themselves and also for words that didn’t fit. Their idea of revising was changing their choice of words and taking out sentences that repeated something they had said earlier. Experienced writers were more likely to completely take out whole paragraphs at a time and restart from scratch. Usually, students just want a paper to sound good and then don't care about any aspects other than that.

Experienced Writing

I think that quote sounds like it is coming from an experienced writer.  Someone that is experienced in writing knows that it takes some time for a piece of writing to turn out good.  I think someone who isn’t very experienced with writing will write up a draft and be satisfied with it after the second or third time going over it.

Experienced Writer

I think this is something that an experienced writer would say. But as a student, when I first write a paper, I have the thought that what I am writing is really good, because everything seems to flow. There seems to be no confusion at all. And when I come up with a really good idea I get very excited that I was able to come up with that. But with an experienced writer, they know that there first draft is not going to be perfect. Experienced writer look at more than just meeting the minimum requirement they look at the content and what the paper is telling the reader.

Sommers Quote

I would suspect that the author of the quote is an experienced writer. Solely because the amount of information that’s in the quote just seems like a pretty profound statement for a, comparatively speaking, inexperienced student. Also, you hear this type of saying from many weathered writers. The whole idea to never be satisfied with what you have, never expect a lot out of your first or second draft and always be willing to revise, revise, revise. I also like the idea to now fall in “love” with what you’ve written in a first or second draft. In my own experience I know I have loved a few sentences in a paper but they just didn’t seem to work for that certain type of paper. I mean sometimes I almost shed a tear cutting sentences. But I realize it just doesn’t work.

Writing Quote

This quote sounds like it comes from an experienced writer’s perspective. The writer is explaining that the first few drafts of a paper are rough and it takes time and revision to formulate a paper that is wonderful. Students often think that their papers do not need much revision and whatever they write in their first or second draft is great. For this reason, I think this quote is coming from an experienced writer who over time has learned what it takes to create a successful paper.

Experienced Sounding Writer

I absolutely agree with this quote and I would have to say that it sounds like a very experienced writer would say it. First of all, it is a very advanced idea to not become content with the first or second draft of a paper. I know that for me, I easily overlook the quality of what I have written and instead focus on how pretty my words sound. Sometimes I am too distracted by a sentence sounding nice to even notice that it makes no sense. Also, his knowledge of needing time to find errors and make corrections does not just sound like a novel idea he wishes he used. Instead, it sounds as if that wisdom has come from years of practice and dedication.

Revision quote

I think that it sounds more like a something from an experienced writer rather than a student writer because a student writer may be less inclined to change what they have written until they realize after a while how bad it may be. I believe that an experienced writer would have no problem changing what they have written because they could easily determine what needs to be revised.

Revision Quote

I think this quote sounds more like an experienced writer, because unexperienced writers often become fixed on what they have wrote and aren't really open to change. Seasoned writers understand that revision is most imporrtant the more they revise the better it gets.

Experienced writer versus student writer

This statement sounds like something an experienced writer would say. Often times an experienced writer tries to make their work better than the last so they are constantly changing and rearranging information, even if they feel their first draft is acceptable. Students on the other hand, are looking more to get the information down and try to finish the paper rather than waste time trying to improve and make the paper better and risk losing their initial idea or point.

Revision Quote

I think that this quote comes from an experienced writer simply because many inexperienced writers tend to want to keep a sentence just because it sounds good and they like it. Even I can stay that I have wanted to keep a sentence because I thought that it sounded good, even if it might not work in the paper. As a writer becomes more experienced they are able to let go of what sounds pretty and make room for what works along with the paper.
