Media

Does the media ever get on any one elses nerves?  I often find myself hating the media because they are always digging into something that it seems they shouldn't be.  I understand that the media is a necessary part of life to give us news on current events and yadda yadda, but sometime I think they take their jobs too far.  And it's like they'll focus on one big story at a time for a long time and then wait til something else big happens and then focus on that forever.  It's like what we talked about in class when one media group covers a story, all the other media groups will cover the same story as to not be left out.  But sometimes it is easy to see that they blatenly take things out of context just to have something to say for that day. I don't know if this bothers anyone else but it bothers me quite a bit.

Election 2008

Is America really ready for a female President? I think so, just not Hilary Clinton.  Nations throughout the world have female Presidents and they are all very successful Presidents.  I think there is a stigma attached to the American Presidency that it must be a white male or it will not work.  We should try to elect a strong female President or maybe even a black President in elections soon to come.  I think a female President would not have the type of ego a male President does which would help run the country better.  A black President could also be elected to further enhance America's Presidential system because I think it would be a mark in history and if we would support a black President as much as we do current Presidents, then it shall be a success.  Electing a black President could possibly decrease the amount of racism in our country but then again it could also increase it.  Other than either a black or female President, I think John Edwards running for President is wise and not just because he's from North Carlina.  I think it was a mistake for him to run for President in 2004 because he was quite young and should have just been a Senator for a little while longer.  This may have jeopardized his chances of being electing President in 2008, but I hope not because I have gotten a chance to him and he is a very all around good man with a good background.  Election 2008 should be an exciting one.

Same Sex Marriages

This past week, I wrote my final paper about same sex marriages because i couldn't find much other policy that wasn't as politically heated as this.  Same sex partners have not been able to be marriage partners because national policy will not commit to this.  However several northern states have allowed the so called "unions" of same sex partners which allow gay partners the same rights as people who are married.  I don't know what to think about the gay marriage policy because on one hand everyone deserves to be treated equally in America as defined under the Constitution, but at the same time I disagree because America was founded on the basis of one nation under God.  Homosexuals are normally not welcomed through the eyes of God therefore it seems that there is a link from that to the American government.  But still equality should be given to everyone whether someone is white, black, pink, orange, heterosexual, or homosexual.  It's a tough topic to debate because both sides have really good points.
