There are many things about spectacular
Ocean City, Maryland that appeals to young people looking for a retreat from
their hectic college lives. For some, it's the beaches; for others, it's the
nightlife. Some love the shopping and dining. Whatever your reasons are, you
can rest assured that you will find your niche in this charming coastal city.
I've been to Ocean City more times than
I can count and the one thing that keeps me coming back for more is the Ocean
City Boardwalk. A miles-long stretch on the beach that's home to hundreds of
shops, food stands and other novelty shops, the Boardwalk has a little
something for everyone. The food at the Boardwalk ranges from sit-down
restaurants to carnival food stands where you can get things like pizza, funnel
cakes and Thrasher's boardwalk fries, arguably the best boardwalk fries in the
eastern seaboard. Entertainment on the Boardwalk takes the form of carnival
rides, arcade games and street performers and people from all over the world
gather there to enjoy the ocean breeze as they watch artisans work on their
pieces by the shore.
This is just one small aspect of a day
in Ocean City, though. There is so much to explore and so many things to do
that I guarantee you will never have to worry about planning out your itinerary
for the day. My friends and I strolled up and down the busy main roads in Ocean
City, went fishing at the pier, visited local shops and had crab legs at
Phillips, Maryland's most famous seafood restaurant. That was all just during
the day.
At night, streets are filled with cars
full of people heading to the beach for parties and bonfires, while groups of
friends walk up and down the streets, hopping from club to club, from bar to
bar. One of the great things about Ocean City is that you can rely on the
public transportation system as well as the constant stream of taxi cabs just
waiting to take you to your hotel room, beachfront condo, or vacation home.
Yes, there are many different kinds of lodging
in Ocean City, and the best part is that they all range in prices so you can
easily find something that fits your budget. I stayed in a three bedroom, one
bath beachfront condo for a fraction of what it would have cost me to stay in a
hotel room. I had a superb view of the ocean and my friends and I felt like we
were literally living in the lap of luxury. Ocean City, Maryland vacation rentals
can be an inexpensive and satisfying part of the experience.
Ocean City is one of the most
entertaining coastal cities in the northeast, and definitely worth a closer
look if you're thinking about going somewhere for spring break this year.
