Maine Vacation Rentals

If you're anything like me, when looking for that perfect vacation spot you know exactly what you want: you're attracted to picture-perfect landscapes in beautiful little towns that allow you to get in touch with yourself and with the world around you while still having some fun. This description fits the state of Maine perfectly. Its fairy-tale scenery and rich natural habitat lends itself to the kind of retreat that you have always dreamed of.

And yet there's an entirely different side of Maine that makes it all the more exciting; for every mountain, pier and tree you see, there are apple orchards, lighthouses, nature hikes, snow tubing, campgrounds, horses, golfing, fishing, skiing, snow mobiles, etc. These things and more await you at every corner of this beautiful state, making it a surprisingly enjoyable and adventurous retreat.

One of the things that held me back in the past about visiting Maine was my assumption that, as a college student, I couldn't possibly afford vacationing at such a beautiful place. After all, any place known worldwide for its lobster can't possibly be cheap to visit, right? Wrong! Lodging in Maine is surprisingly affordable, with retreats that vary in prices to fit every budget.

Maine vacation rentals can be found everywhere, from the northernmost corner of the state in Aroostook County to the southern Maine coastal town of Ogunquit. Stay close to Sugarloaf Mountain for some Nordic and Alpine skiing or visit the Museum at Port Head Light and learn all about the oldest lighthouse in Maine. Or stay in the Greater Portland area for a more 'small town', cultural experience. You can visit local shops that have that small town feel, and the food in Maine, particularly the seafood, is second to none. From rivers to ocean, mountain to orchard, everyone is sure to find something to keep their interest peaked in this versatile state.

The most wonderful part about making Maine your spring retreat is the peaceful, welcoming nature surrounding you, even as you set foot outside of the airport. You are sure to find a new experience at every turn, ensuring that your visit is one that you will never forget.
