Sharing a calendar
Sharing your calendar is a great way to help people to work together. There are lots of ways to do this, a couple that are available right now to everyone are Google's Online Calendar - http://calendar.google.com/ - all you need is a Google account and you can start your own calendar and Yahoo!'s Online Calendar - http://calendar.yahoo.com/ - all you need is a Yahoo account. There are several advantages to using an online calendar - I've used one for the last 10 years or more.
The third one is where the real power comes in. I tried to keep two calendars for a while - one that I carried with me and one that I left on my desk for my secretary to be able to know where I was. That didn't last long at all! It was too difficult to keep track of which events had been moved to the desk calendar and they quickly became unsynchronized. An online calendar like either of these makes it very easy to let others (you select who has what level of access) know what's on your calendar. This is especially useful if you have several people trying to find a time to meet together or multi-county agents keeping all of their counties informed about their where abouts. Shared online calendars are also useful for sharing information about events with someone else - such as the developing agenda and more. Best of all, both of these calendars are very easy to use and maintain! If you don't already have an online calendar, try one of these for a month and see if you don't love it as much as I love mine. I'd never go back to a 'paper only' calendar.
